Pasquale Scaturro
Explorer, Adventurer, Geophysicist
"A big, rough-edged, passionate guy with a salty mouth and a Sicilian surname, Scaturro is an exploration geophysicist who travels the world prospecting for oil reserves. This is his soldier-of-fortune persona. Life is good. But it's also short, as he likes to observe. His apparent goal is to cram in as many experiences as possible-in the mold of his 19th-century heroes." Outside Magazine

Pasquale Scaturro, explorer, adventurer and geophysicist, is one of the foremost accomplished and renowned expedition leaders in the world and has been exploring the far reaches of the planet for more than 25 years. And for more than three decades he has worked closely with some of the world's largest multinational corporations, conducting the full range of geological, geophysical, and operational services key to the domestic and international oil and gas industry. His presentations bridge the gap between the lives of people in the workplace and his own high-risk adventures by showing how the lessons of teamwork, trust, and leadership apply to the day-to-day business of any organization.

Where No One Has Gone Before. Pasquale has been the leader of major and historical expeditions in high altitude mountaineering including three expeditions to Everest. In 2001 he conceived, organized, and led the record breaking National Federation of the Blind 2001 Everest Expedition, in which blind climber Erik Weihenmayer reached the summit. Time Magazine called it one of the most successful Mt. Everest expeditions in history. The award-winning film Farther than the Eye Can See was shot during the expedition and is ranked as one of the top 20 adventure films of all time by Men's Journal.

As a mountain, river, and desert expedition leader, film producer, African bush pilot, explorer, adventurer, and geophysicist Pasquale draws upon a lifetime of experiences. His motivational talks have inspired audiences throughout the United States and Europe, and taught people that the realm of impossibility has no limits. From an early age Pasquale learned what it was to sacrifice and at the same time to strive to make his dreams materialize. Leadership through team building, persistence, setting goals, planning skills, flexibility to overcome and survive unexpected obstacles, and performance under pressure are all factors in Pasquale's remarkable endeavor to live a life without limits both in business and on the rivers and mountains of the world.

Historic Mountain Ascents, Dangerous River Descents. In 2006 Pasquale was the expedition leader and chief of mountain operations on the deadly north face of the Eiger in Switzerland for the IMAX film The Alps. Premiering May 31, 2009, Pasquale will be featured in the new 8-part History Channel TV series Expedition Africa: Stanley and Livingstone in which a team of four explorers cross Africa from Zanzibar to Lake Tanganyika retracing Henry Morton Stanley's epic 1871 expedition to find Dr David Livingston. Also, soon to be released, is the incredible 4-part TV series Journey to Arabia in which Pasquale leads an expedition exploring the breadth and width of Arabia in search of adventure.

Pasquale has also led multiple descents of major world-class rivers including the Bio Bio in Chile, Omo and Zambezi in Africa and in 2003 he organized and led the dangerous and historic 114-day Nile First Descent Expedition, the first ever descent of the Blue Nile and Nile River from its source 10,000 feet high in the mountains of Ethiopia to the Mediterranean Sea, a distance of 3,260 miles. The expedition is featured in the blockbuster IMAX film and book titled the Mystery of the Nile.
