Christopher Cross

Singer

Christopher Cross virtually defined adult contemporary radio with a series of smoothly sophisticated songs including the chart-topping Sailing. His self-titled debut album appeared in 1980, with the lead single Ride Like the Wind rocketing to the number two spot; the massive success of the second single Sailing made Cross a superstar, and in the wake of two more Top 20 hits, Never Be the Same and Say You'll Be Mine, he walked off with a record setting five Grammy's in 1981, including Album of the Year and Song of the Year. He soon scored a second number one as well as an Academy Award with Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do), which he co-wrote with Burt Bacharach, Carole Bayer Sager, and Peter Allen for the smash Dudley Moore film comedy, Arthur. Cross's much-anticipated sophomore effort Another Page debuted in 1983 and featured the Billboard Top 20 hits All Right and Think of Laura.

Every few years, the world has been gifted with a new set of Christopher Cross songs, each of his albums growing innately from the last while resolutely advancing the state of his art. Cross has continued to regularly hit the worldwide concert road, never depriving his fans of the early hits (played note-perfect) but always insisting on featuring a broad range of his latest work, the songs where his heart, and his art, truly lie. The audience response is never less than rapturous.

In 1998, Cross signed to CMC International for Walking in Avalon, a two-disc effort split between new studio material and live recordings of his past hits. Cross returned in the spring of 2000 with The Red Room.
