Author of Being Strategic and Growing Great Employees
Erika Andersen understands the traits that make good business leaders great. She takes the concept of "being strategic" and reminds audiences what this regularly-used term actually means. Through her research of great leaders and their understanding of what it means to be strategic, she shows how these leaders consistently focus on making core objective choices that lead to the future they want for their companies. By looking for the simplest answer and building a bridge over the pitfalls and tactical dead-ends, Andersen cuts to the core issues facing the workplace and the overall direction of any organization.
Being Strategic in a Changing World. Andersen's new book is Being Strategic: Plan for Success; Outthink Your Competitors; Stay Ahead of Change, a book that defines strategic thinking and provides examples and analysis of some of the most successful business leaders at work today. According to Andersen, leaders must stay strategic and put aside fear; they must expand their view instead of contracting it. By seeing your current reality in a clear and balanced way, leaders and employees will have the mental bandwidth to think clearly about the future. When businesses see both the present and the possible future clearly, they can make the core directional choices that are most likely to keep them moving toward their desired future.
Andersen is also the author of Growing Great Employees: Turning Ordinary People into Extraordinary Performers, a book that has been called "the consummate 'how to' manual for choosing and nurturing great employees." Since 1980, she has developed a reputation for creating approaches to learning and business-building that are uniquely tailored to her clients' challenges, goals, and culture. She offers practical methods and skills for individuals, teams, and companies to clarify and then achieve their hoped-for-future.
Developing Strategic Leaders. Much of her recent work has focused on organizational visioning and strategy, executive coaching, and management and leadership development. In these capacities she has served as consultant and advisor to the CEOs and top executives of a number of corporations, including MTV Networks, Rockwell Automation, Turner Broadcasting, MillerCoors, NBC Universal, Union Square Hospitality Group, and Cablevision Corporation.
She has been invited to share her insights about managing people and creating successful businesses by speaking to corporations, nonprofit groups and national associations. Her books and learning guides have been translated into Spanish, Turkish, German, French, Russian, and Chinese, and she has been quoted in a variety of national publications, including Glamour, Fortune, and the New York Times.
