Until August 1999 Dr. Hans Tietmeyer was the President of the Deutsche Bundesbank and remains one of the most important figures in European finance.

Dr. Hans Tietmeyer became a Member of the Board of Directors of the Deutsche Bundesbank and of the Cent/al Bank Council in 1990, with responsibility for foreign countries, international monetary issues, organisations and agreements. After two years as Vice President he became President of the Deutsche Bundesbank in 1993, a position he held until August 1999.
He has published more than 100 articles on the subject of economics and is the recipient of many prestigious awards and prizes. In his book, The Social Market Economy and Monetary Stability, he addresses subjects such as employment, social security and economic structural change, as well as the significance of monetary stability.
