Kate O'Beirne

Kate O'Beirne is National Review's Washington Editor. Kate O'Beirne directs the magazine's coverage from the capital and writes principally about Congress, politics, and domestic policy. Kate O'Beirne is a commentator for MSNBC and a regular panelist on NBC's Meet the Press. Kate O'Beirne was a member of CNN's Capital Gang for ten years. 

Before joining National Review in 1995, Kate O'Beirne was Vice President of Government Relations at The Heritage Foundation while serving as a contributing editor for National Review.  

Kate O'Beirne previously served as Heritage's Deputy Director of Domestic Policy Studies, where she supervised studies in the areas of health care, welfare, education, and housing.  During the Reagan Administration, she was Deputy Assistant Secretary for Legislation at the Department of Health and Human Services.  

A native of New York, Kate O'Beirne began her political career when she worked on James Buckley's successful U.S. senatorial campaign and served as a staff assistant in his Senate office.  

Kate O'Beirne also worked for the New York Senate, received her J.D. degree from St. John's University, and practiced law in New York.
