Michele Hunt serves as a Change Catalyst and "Thinking Partner" to leaders of organizations and communities on leadership development and organizational change. Her eleven year firm is called Vision & Values. Michele works with leaders and their teams to help transform their organizations to higher levels participation, teamwork and performance. Her work is rooted in the principles of shared vision, values and continuous learning.
Michele Hunt works with leaders of organizations to unleash the collective gifts, energy and creativity of their people to achieve the organizations vision and goals. She accomplishes this by working with the leaders in the creation of a customer focused shared vision, values, and then facilitating the total alignment of their organizational systems, processes, structures, measurements, and most important, their culture and leadership behaviors.
Michele Hunt is the author of the book DreamMakers: Putting Vision and Values to Work - Forward written by Max De Pree, former CEO and Chairman of Herman Miller, Inc. She is also the conceptual director of the documentary, DreamMakers, compelling stories of people who made their hopes and dreams come true against tremendous obstacles. DreamMakers film documentary is about hope, intended fo anyone seeking to create a better future. The very personal stories featured in this film are about struggle and triumph. It is about people who have the faith and courage to hold a positive vision for their future and turn their vision into reality, against tremendous obstacles.
Michele Hunt's customers have included leadership teams of: IBM, Motorola, Swiss Reinsurance Company, Popular, Inc., Banco Popular Puerto Rico, Banco Popular North America, EVERTEC, SRA International, Johns Hopkins University, Bright China Management Institute, Banco Do Brasil, BHP of Australia, NASA, The U.S. Veterans Administration, The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, The U.S. National Park Service, The Girl Scouts of America, National Junior Achievement, World Vision International.
Her work also includes communities. In 1998 Michele Hunt partnered with Aruba's Quality Foundation in the facilitation of a national shared vision for the country of Aruba: Aruba, 2005. This process involved all segments of their society including school age children.
In 1992 Michele Hunt served on President Clinton's Transition Team and in 1993, she was appointed by President Bill Clinton to serve as the executive director of the Federal Quality Institute, with the mission to help seed the reinvention of the United Sates government. The National Performance Review: Creating a Government that Works Better and Cost Less. In this capacity she led the institute working with Vice President Al Gore and the cabinet leadership teams. She brought the latest thinking and management practices to this effort through public-private partnerships with world recognized thought leaders and high performing organizations including: Peter Drucker, John Gardner, Max De Pree, Peter Senge, GE, Xerox, Ford, and Herman Miller.
Prior to this appointment, Michele Hunt spent 13 years with Herman Miller, Inc., a global office furniture company. She served on the senior management team as Senior Vice President for People. In this capacity she led the company's organizational transformation. She was responsible for global Leadership Development, "Human Resources", Quality Management, and Corporate Communications. Her contribution helped Herman Miller to be recognized as Fortune Magazine's Most Admired Company and America's Top 10 "Best Companies in America to Work For." The company also was recognized as the "Best Company for Women & Working Mothers." Herman Miller also received the prestigious Bertlesman Award as The Best Managed Companies in the World. During her 13 years with the company, Michele Hunt also served as Director of Corporate Relations which included: government, media, and shareholder and community relations programs.
Michele Hunt began her career with the Michigan Department of Corrections as one of the first two female probation officers to supervise adult male felons on probation in Detroit, Michigan. Seven years later she was the state of Michigan's first female Deputy Warden leading programs for rehabilitation in a male prison.
Michele Hunt serves on the board of directors of Hewitt Associates, The Institute for Inclusion and the Detroit Windsor Dance Academy. She has served on the board of directors of the ServiceMaster Company and Peter Senge's Society for Organizational Learning at MIT. Michele is a Fellow of the Aspen Institute, and recently joined the board of Trustees of Union Institute & University.
Ms. Hunt is also a frequent keynote speaker on leadership, organizational and cultural transformation.
Michele Hunt earned her bachelor and masters degrees from Eastern Michigan University and University of Detroit, respectively.
