Scott Livengood

Scott A. Livengood - Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer and President of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts - was born in Salisbury, North Carolina in 1952 but grew up in Winston-Salem, the same city that Krispy Kreme has called home for its entire 65-year history.

He attended the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, where he received his BS Degree, and returned to Winston-Salem.  In 1977 he joined Krispy Kreme and assumed increasing responsibilities over the years.  He became President in 1992.  In 1998, he became Chief Executive Officer, and, one year later, he was elected Chairman of the Board.

Under Scott Livengood's leadership the company has been transformed from a regional wholesale doughnut company to a nationally recognized and leading branded specialty retailer of premium quality doughnuts.  He has guided the company through its greatest period of expansion; developing markets across the U.S., entry into Canada, and plans for international growth.  Since the company began its national expansion in 1996, the number of stores has grown from 95 to 290 in 38 states, Canada and Australia.  In addition, he led the company through an initial public offering in April of 2000.  Today, Krispy Kreme's IPO has been cited as the most successful of the year 2000.

Scott Livengood is a member of the of the Board of Visitors of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and serves on the executive committee of the University's Educational Foundation.  He is also a member of the Board of Visitors of the Babcock Graduate School of Management of Wake Forest University.  He is a member of the Board of Councilors of the Carter Center in Atlanta, a member of the Board of the Winston-Salem Alliance, and Triad Region Chair of the North Carolina Community Development Initiative's Capital Campaign.

He has served on the Board of Visitors of the Calloway School of Business of Wake Forest University; the Board of Trustees of Salem Academy and College; the Winston-Salem State University Foundation; the Forsyth Technical Community College Foundation; Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County; Board of Directors of the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce; and the advisory board of BB&T, one of the nation's largest banks.

Scott Livengood is married to Michelle and has three sons:  Matt, a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; Greg, who attends Forsyth County Day; and Erik, who attends Jefferson Middle School; and a step-daughter, Meredith, who also attends Forsyth Country Day.  He is a member of Home Moravian Church.
