Tony Blankley

Executive Vice President for Global Affairs with Edelman and Former Editorial Page Editor of the Washington Times

Tony Blankley has taken the world of punditry by storm, achieving the rating of the most accurate of all DC pundits by the magazine, Brill's Content. Having spent much of his career in pivotal positions with a variety of influential policymakers, he brings to his speeches his perspective as both a political insider and analyzer.

For seven years, Tony Blankley served as press secretary to then Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich. In that role, he not only helped create the messages that shook the country, but also helped create policy. Blankley's knack for catchy sound bites (which he calls his "poor man's poetry") and sound political strategy established him as one of Washington's premiere sources of ideas and insights. Working for the most renowned speaker of the house in decades, Blankley became one of the leading spokesmen for the Contract with America. Prior to his career on Capitol Hill, Blankley served President Reagan as a speechwriter and senior policy analyst. He served as Deputy Attorney General of California from 1972 to 1980. Exclusively represented by Leading Authorities, Blankley uses his background to provide insight into the politics and policies that are making the headlines.

Approaching Moguls of Media. After leaving Newt Gingrich's office in 1997, Blankley became  editor-at-large for John F. Kennedy Jr.'s George magazine and permanent Sunday panelist on CNN's Late Edition.  Blankley's monthly George column "Between the Lines" featured his inside-the-beltway insights. He was a regular panelist on The McLaughlin Group for 10 years. He currently appears on MSNBC's Morning Joe, Hardball, and The Ed Show; CNBC's Kudlow and Company; CNN's The Situation  Room with Wolf Blitzer, Campbell Brown, Larry King LiveAmerican Morning, and Rick's List; and Fox's HannityFox and Friends, and The O'Reilly Factor. Tony co-hosts KCRW's popular show, Left, Right & Center with Arianna Huffington, and is a regular guest on several national commercial talk radio shows. In 1999, Blankley joined the Washington Times as a weekly political columnist. His nationally syndicated column is now in its 11th year. Formerly editorial page editor at the Times, Blankley is now executive vice president for global public affairs with Edelman  in Washington, DC--the world's second largest public relations firm

The same depth of knowledge and sharp wit that kept reporters turning to him during his time on Capitol Hill have made Blankley one of today's leading media commentators. His opinions and analysis of political events have been featured on the front pages of the New York Times, USA Today, and other major publications. Blankley is the best-selling author of two books, The West's Last Chance: Will We Win the Clash of Civilizations?, and American Grit: What It Will Take to Survive and Win in the 21st Century.

An Insider's Viewpoint. Blankley has quickly become a favorite speaker of corporate and association audiences around the country. He draws from his firsthand experience in both the executive and congressional branches to present speeches that provide a seasoned peek into today's headlines, as well as the issues that will fill tomorrow's.

Tony Blankley is a distinctive, distinguished voice in political analysis. His work behind the scenes and in front of the camera has enabled him to sharpen his skills as a wonk, as an orator, and as a debater. He speaks about the personalities in public office, and the people who vote for them. His insights take audiences into the heart of American politics, and provide an engaging forum full of ideas and shrewd observations of democracy in action.

The Politics of Change in a Crucial American Moment. Blankley provides a clear and witty view of American politics in real-time. Calling on his years as a pundit, commentator, and party strategist, he unscrambles the complexities of the political puzzle and lays them out in a precise and nuanced way. With Democratic Party control in Congress and the White House, a wider range of policies will be up for changes, and Blankley explains what forces are pushing those changes, what organizations can do to adjust, and how it will all unfold.

Tea Party Primer. The Tea Party movement is a significant sub-demographic that is growing influence by the day. Tony Blankley, journalist, pundit, and cultural commentator, has been covering Tea Party activities across the country. In this insightful presentation, he gives audiences a sense of how the phenomenon is developing, and how it will affect elections and policy choices. With more Americans self-identifying as Tea Party than Republican, he explores what it means for the Republican Party and likely scenarios for the future.

The Republican Party and the Midterm Elections. After the 2008 elections, the Republican Party recognized a need to reestablish its brand and create a conservative agenda that will appeal to the American people. Now the political narrative has changed, and the midterm elections could present a new chapter for the Republican Party. As an integral Republican strategist, Blankley puts the shift in popular attitudes in historical perspective, and explains how the Republican Party can reemerge as a strong and coherent political voice in Washington.

Ideal Debate Partners:
In addition to being a popular speaker, Blankley is an accomplished debater. Pair him with Eleanor Clift or Peter Beinart, among other renowned Democratic pundits, to create a uniquely informative and provocative program. Whether he delivers a keynote or debates with colleagues across the ideological boundaries, Blankley gives his audience more than just analysis. He focuses on the personalities and stories that make politics so fascinating, and he helps audiences take away critical information and bold ideas long after they leave the event.
