Authority on Government Strategy, Domestic & Global Affairs
Former Congressman Vin Weber has been at the center of American government for nearly two decades. While in the House of Representatives, Weber's principled leadership helped build the foundation for the current Republican congressional majority. Since his 1992 retirement, he has represented some of America's strongest and most entrepreneurial companies, as well as public interest groups serving children, medical professionals, and cancer victims. In addition, business, political, and media leaders continually seek his insight and guidance on domestic and global affairs.
Weber, a partner at Clark & Weinstock, provides strategic advice to businesses interested in the governmental process of the legislative and executive branches of government. A compelling speaker, Weber consistently gives corporations and organizations around the country a bipartisan view of the federal government and how to influence policy, specializing in the issues of appropriations, agriculture and labor, and health and social welfare policies.
Prior to joining Clark & Weinstock, Weber established a non-profit organization, Empower America, with Jack Kemp, Jeane Kirkpatrick, Bill Bennett, and others to advocate policies that emphasize individual responsibility and accountability in approaching economic, social welfare, and educational problems.
Weber has been featured in numerous national publications, including the National Journal, the New Republic, the Wall Street Journal and the American Spectator, both as subject and author. He is a sought-after political and policy analyst, appearing frequently on the major television networks on Sunday political talk shows, and on CNN's Crossfire program. Weber continues to play an active role in influencing current policy through National Public Radio commentaries and a syndicated column for the National Review.
Vin Weber was first elected to represent Minnesota's Second District in the United States House of Representatives in 1980 and continued to serve until he announced his retirement in the spring of 1992. Weber served on the House Appropriations Committee for six years. He was appointed to its agriculture and Labor/HHS/Education subcommittees and was extensively involved in addressing the agricultural, heath, and social welfare policies of the country. Prior to his congressional service, he served as Campaign Manager and Chief Minnesota aide to Senator Rudy Boshwitz (1976-78) and Press Secretary to United States Representative Tom Hagedorn (1974-1976).
Weber continues to enjoy strong bipartisan relationships across the legislative and executive branches of government.
