Emmy-winning Paul Mecurio is a lawyer/investment banker turned writer and improvisational comedian. First hired by Jay Leno to write jokes for The Tonight Show, Mecurio eventually left Wall Street and started his career as a stand-up comedian. Due to his corporate background, Mecurio flawlessly serves both as an excellent source of entertainment and as emcee of an event. His stand-up act is appropriate both in terms of content and language, and Mecurio – unique among comedians – works very effectively with clients to customize his show to the needs and wishes of the client.
While a corporate comedian, Mecurio still manages to be funny and edgy. His performances focus on social commentary and audience involvement, by walking amongst the audience, asking questions, making jokes, and generally encouraging crowd participation.
As a staff writer for Comedy Central's critically acclaimed The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Mecurio won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Writing in a Variety, Music or Comedy Program. He was also nominated a second time for the same category. He has been honored with a Peabody Award for Excellence in Broadcasting for his work on The Daily Show, as well. Paul Mecurio has also made over a dozen national television appearances.
