Chuck Todd

NBC News Political Director, Chief White House Correspondent

"In addition to being a very shrewd political analyst, Chuck Todd is an explainer of the details of the whole political scene. Just for political smarts I think Todd probably blows away all his competitors." Talking Points Memo
Chuck Todd

Fifty years from now, when newsreel footage is being shown of the momentous changes in America that swept Barack Obama into office, one journalist will be the voice and face of our political era--and that journalist is NBC's chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd. With what The Washingtonian calls a "savant-like knowledge of politics," the NBC political director has become a fixture in the White House Press Room, a steady and constant presence on television, and a tireless voice on the campaign trail. His up-to-the-minute poll analysis and insightful commentary has made most sought-after voices in American political coverage, and his on-air political analysis can be seen almost daily on NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams and the Today show, and as the co-host of MSNBC's "The Daily Rundown." He also edits "First Read," the network's must-read guide to political news and trends in and around our nation's capital, and he is a contributing editor to Meet the Press. Exclusively represented by Leading Authorities speakers bureau, Chuck Todd offers a comprehensive picture of the political landscape. As the political news of today becomes tomorrow's American history, he will be the voice we hear when we think back to America in the early 21st century.

A Rising Star in Political Journalism. During the 2008 presidential election, Todd became a frequent contributor to several television news outlets, including C-SPAN's Washington Journal and MSNBC's Hardball with Chris Matthews. During the 2004 elections, he had the rare privilege of moderating one of the few presidential candidate forums in Iowa. Accompanying his extensive media presence is his work as a graduate level professor at the Johns Hopkins University. In December 2005, The Washingtonian featured him in its "Best of" issue in the journalism section, and in 2009, the same magazine named him one of the top 50 journalists covering Washington. In March 2001, George magazine named Todd one of the 50 most influential people in politics.

Covering Campaigns, Candidates, and Everything in Between. Todd loves to follow races, issues, and campaigns. He earned practical political experience on initiative campaigns in Florida and various national campaigns based in Washington. When he isn't following politics, he's writing about them. In addition to his frequent contributions of his own op-ed pieces, which have been published by both the New York Times and the Washington Post, Todd often provides sharp political essays for such newspapers as The Atlantic Monthly.

For 14 years Todd contributed to the Hotline, Washington's premier daily briefing on American politics, eventually serving as editor-in-chief. In those years, he helped to grow the publication beyond just a single daily political exposition. From Hotline Weekly to House Race Hotline to the various morning and afternoon updates, Todd helped make the elite paper the epicenter of politics. During his time with the Hotline, Todd stayed on the cutting edge of publication creations, including The Sports Business Daily in 1994 and two highly acclaimed political websites in 1996.
