Chief Legal Analyst for ABC News and the Founder and CEO of the Abrams Media Network
Dan is the founder of the Abrams Media Network, which includes Mediaite, Geekosystem, Styleite, and SportsGrid, Mogulite, The Mary Sue, and is co-founder of Gossip Cop. He is also the CEO of Abrams Research.
Dan was also the General Manager of MSNBC where he defined the network as “The Place for Politics”. During his tenure, the network saw its most significant ratings and profit gains to date.
He also hosted The Abrams Report, a nightly legal affairs program, and the acclaimed Verdict with Dan Abrams. He previously worked as the Chief Legal Analyst for NBC News and MSNBC and is currently the Chief Legal Analyst for ABC News.
Abrams joined NBC News as a general assignment correspondent based in New York in 1997. Abrams continued his legal reporting at NBC News covering legal stories for NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams, Today, and Dateline NBC. He has covered all of the highest-profile trials of the past decade, including the Bush v. Gore post-election legal battles, President Clinton’s impeachment trial, the Oklahoma City Bombing Trials and Appeals, and as of late the Scott Peterson trial and the legal issues associated with the war on terror.
Prior to joining NBC News, Abrams served as an anchor and reporter for Court TV. During his tenure, he covered the O.J. Simpson murder trial from Los Angeles, the International War Crimes trial from The Hague, Netherlands, and the assisted-suicide trails of Dr. Jack Kevorkian from Detroit and Pontiac, Michigan.
In addition to his reporting duties, Abrams was a daytime anchor for Court TV and anchored the weekly program Teen Court TV. Abrams served as an NBC News consultant reporting on the O.J. Simpson murder and civil trials with regular appearances on NBC Nightly News, Today, and Dateline NBC from 1995 to 1997.
An accomplished writer, Abrams has published articles in The New York Times, USA Today magazine, The American Lawyer, and the Yale Law and Policy Review.
A 1988 cum laude graduate of Duke University in Durham, N.C., Abrams received a bachelor of arts degree in political science. He received his law degree from Columbia University in 1992. He currently resides in New York City.
