Lynn Turner has the unique perspective of having been a partner in one of the major international accounting firms, the Chief Accountant of the Securities and Exchange Commission, and a corporate board member. A noted expert on financial reporting requirements, corporate governance standards, and economic risk, he is an eloquent speaker who gives riveting presentations on every aspect of the financial field and markets. Advising to count on. Turner served as the Chief Accountant of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) from July 1998 to August 2001. As chief accountant, Turner was the principal advisor to the SEC Chairman The issues dealt with by Turner included the oversight and development of U.S. accounting, disclosure, and auditing standards; the development and coordination of international accounting standards; as well as matters affecting audit committees of public companies. In this capacity Turner worked regularly with Congress, various federal and state government agencies, international regulators, representatives of industry, and the accounting profession.
After leaving the SEC, Turner served as director of Colorado State University’s Center for Quality Financial Reporting. In 2007, Treasury Secretary Paulson appointed Turner to the treasury committee on the auditing profession. Turner was also actively involved in the legislative process leading up to passage of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Turner is currently a senior advisor and managing director in the forensic accounting practice at LECG, a global expert services and consulting firm. He focuses on complex investigations regarding financial reporting and misappropriation of assets as well as various aspects of corporate governance, securities litigation, accountant liability, and technical accounting matters.
Prior to the SEC, Turner spent 20 years with Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers), where he was national SEC review partner and head of its national high technology audit practice.
Multimedia moneywatching. Turner has served as an expert witness for and testified before Congress on several occasions. He has appeared on National Public Radio and all the major television networks including NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, CNBC, CNNfn, Bloomberg TV and MSNBC. Turner has also served as one of six members of the Panel of Experts for the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Turner is a member of the Board of Directors of Sun Microsystems. He serves as a senior advisor to corporate advisory and forensic litigation firm Kroll Zolfo Copper and as director of research at GlassLewis LLC, an independent research firm.
