Major Garrett is a highly sought-after and respected Congressional correspondent who has been at the forefront of our nation’s most important issues of the last decade. Prior to returning to his roots as a print journalist, Garrett was a member of CNN’s White House team and later became the chief White House correspondent for the Fox News Channel.

A Highly-Accomplished Author. In addition to being an award-winning reporter, Major Garrett’s articles have appeared in magazines such as The Weekly Standard, Washington Monthly, and Mother Jones. He has also written four books - The Enduring Revolution: The Inside Story of the Republican Ascendancy and Why It Will Continue (2006),The Enduring Revolution: How the Contract with America Continues to Shape the Nation (2005), The Fifteen Biggest Lies in Politics (2000), and Common Cents: A Retiring Six-Term Congressman Reveals How Congress Really Works-And What We Must Do to Fix It (1995). His third book, The Enduring Revolution (2005) was hailed as one of the best non-fiction political books of all time by readers of Chris Cillizza’s The Washington Post blog The Fix.
A Master of the Media. After his success as a print journalist, Major Garrett made the move to television. He joined CNN’s White House team in 2000, later moving to Fox News in 2002 as a general assignment reporter. There, he served as the network’s Congressional correspondent. He became Fox’s chief White House correspondent in 2009 and earned a coveted front-row seat in the White House briefing room. He left Fox News Channel after eight years to return to his passion – print journalism. Garrett is now a correspondent for the National Journal, where he pens his own weekly column, All Powers, which focuses on Congress and national politics.
Early in his career, Garrett was an award-winning reporter for The Houston Post, the Amarillo Globe-News, and Las Vegas Review-Journal. He progressed into a successful senior editor and Congressional correspondent for U.S. News and World Report, where he notably reported on the impeachment of President Clinton. He also acted as a Congressional reporter for The Washington Times, and from 1995 to 1997 he was the newspaper’s deputy national editor.
