Leading Authorities Speakers Bureau | Jenna Bush
International Child Rights Advocate and New York Times Bestselling Author

“It is my hope to motivate young Americans to increase their awareness of other young people around the world: to learn about the challenges they face, how they triumph over adversity, and to become involved in helping them.”

First Daughter Jenna Bush worked as an intern with UNICEF throughout Latin America. Her philanthropic travels inspired her to write her first book, Ana’s Story: A Journey of Hope, which focuses on the life of a young woman living with HIV/AIDS Bush befriended during her travels. Bush speaks from the heart as one who gained a rare insider’s view.

Politics and prose. Ana’s Story: A Journey of Hope shot to number one on the New York Times bestseller list. The book is both the courageous story of a 17-year-old single mother living with HIV in Latin America and a call to action for people of all ages to make a difference in the fight against poverty, abuse, and HIV/AIDS. Since the book’s publication Bush has given more than 50 lectures at bookstores, libraries, and schools across the country. She shares the inspirational story of Ana and how each of us can make a difference in the lives of children around the world. She has appeared on 20/20, Today, The Tonight Show, Larry King Live, Rachel Ray, CBS Early Show, and has been featured in Time, Newsweek, USA Today, as well as in myriad newspapers across the country. Through Ana’s Story, Bush is forging a dialogue among teens and raising awareness and involvement in programs to benefit children in need.

Making a difference. While Ana’s story is unique, many of the world’s children share similar circumstances and hardships. According to UNICEF, some 2.3 million children worldwide are living with HIV/AIDS and millions more suffer from abuse, poverty, and neglect. In Ana’s Story Bush puts a face on the statistics, increases our awareness of these important issues, and suggests ways that kids can help – whether they have an hour, a day, a month, a summer or a year.

Bush graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in English. Before her internship with UNICEF, she was an elementary school teacher in Washington, D.C. She is currently writing a second book, in collaboration with her mother, which is focused on encouraging children to become readers.
