The Circuit: The Future Looks Bright

LEADING AUTHORITIES' ROUNDUP OF THOUGHT LEADERSHIP, TRENDS, AND PERSONALITIES ON THE SPEAKING CIRCUIT
The tech industry is buzzing after the annual CES conference kicked off in Vegas earlier this week. From Google building a theme-park style ride to show off their Assistant product, to Elon Musk's newest rocket, there's been lots to talk about. And 8 of our very own LAI speakers took the stage!
On that note, I thought I'd share insights from the tech space. I've included a look at trends to watch in 2019 and an economist's thoughts on AI.
ROBOTS DOING PARKOUR?
Robot researcher Dr. Kate Darling, AI expert Neil Jacobstein, and the Chair of Medicine at Singularity, Dr. Daniel Kraft, each recently shared their thoughts on tech trends to watch this year; we rounded them up in this blog post. Coincidentally, they all focused on robots: Why to expect to see them more and more in the public space, how their capabilities (including, yes, parkour) will grow, and how they will fundamentally change medicine. Domo Arigato, indeed.
THE RUSH TO REGULATE
In 2018, we saw Congress take on plenty of heavy hitters from Silicon Valley. Recently, former Director of the Congressional Budget Office and current American Action Forum President Doug Holtz-Eakin shared his thoughts on the rise of AI and the “rush to regulate.” Touching on fears of job displacement and potential threats to society, he offers his take on the “appropriate” amount of regulation when it comes to artificial intelligence.
