New Book: Dana Perino on the Importance of Mentorship

As the second ever female Press Secretary, Dana Perino felt a strong desire to continue the tradition of women succeeding in leadership roles, both in the White House and beyond. Since her time in the White House, Perino has taken on a serious mentorship role to many young women across industries.

Mentorship for the Masses

In her new book Everything Will Be Okay: Life Lessons for Young Women (from a Former Young Woman), Perino shares her insights with the next generation of powerful women. Perino turned her own life experiences as a young woman struggling to find her way in the world into a book filled with no-nonsense life lessons to be your best self both on and off the clock.

A part of her own dedication to mentoring young women across the country, Perino began Minute Mentoring, a program for young women that’s like speed dating between mentor and mentees. A few employees of Leading Authorities were lucky enough to be invited to a Minute Mentoring session in Washington, D.C. The evening of powerful women sharing their journey through personal crises, trials and tribulations on the job provided concrete ways to deal with similar troubles.

Through her mentorship program, Dana was inspired to address these challenges that young women face in her book. Everything Will Be Okay provides tips and advice for young women – and anyone looking to support young women – on trending topics such as:

  • How to manage your relationships (colleagues, family, love)
  • How to be your best self on the job
  • How to gauge if you're on the right career path
  • How to transition from junior staffer to boss lady
  • How to solve the biggest problems you're facing
  • How to move past perceived obstacles

Perino sat down with her college roommate and friend, Andrea Aragon, to discuss the process of writing and the experiences that led Perino to write such an impactful book.
