New Speakers: Matthew Syed, Susie Dent, Ben Ryan

by Steve Bagshaw
Susie Dent Ben Ryan Matthew Syed

I wanted to let you know that Leading Authorities is now working with three new speakers:

Matthew Syed, Journalist, Writer and Broadcaster
Matthew Syed is one of the world’s most influential thinkers on high performance and cultural change. The author of two best-selling books—Bounce and Black Box Thinking—Matthew has worked with some of the world’s leading organisations to build a mindset of continuous improvement. Before becoming a writer, journalist and broadcaster, Matthew was the England table tennis number one for almost a decade, three-times Commonwealth Champion, and twice competed for Great Britain in the Olympic Games (in Barcelona in 1992 and Sydney in 2000).

Ben Ryan, Former Head Coach of Fiji 7’s Rugby, Founder of Sleepandwater
The former coach of the Fiji Rugby programme, Ben’s engaging presence on stage leads him to be one of the most in-demand speakers with extensive knowledge on leadership, collaboration, teamwork, and communication. Ben shares insights that illustrate how to implement innovation successfully rather than simply having an innovation department, and looks at effective ways to build trust, how to adapt approaches to different contexts, how to measure performance in a meaningful way, and how the proper tools in coaching teams can be the difference between success and failure.

Susie Dent, Countdown Lexicographer Communication Expert, Business Author and Language Researcher
Companies all over the world today face daily challenges in communicating effectively with their staff and customers: Demographic nuances, industry-specific lingo, and personal interpretations of meaning are all potential barriers to success. Susie explains the value that precise language brings and helps corporations and their leadership and management teams integrate her battle-tested approaches into their own daily communication and negotiations. She contributes regularly to Five Live Breakfast, BBC Breakfast, Good Morning Britain, Radio 4 and Audible podcasts, has a weekly column in the Radio Times and on Mental Floss, and is also a spokesperson for the Oxford English Dictionary.
