New Speech on America’s Driverless Future
Last week, former Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx spoke at SXSW about driverless cars and why “everything but walking” will be automated.
He said the driverless revolution will begin as early as 2021 and change the way we live permanently—think drones dropping off your prescription in your back yard rather than a trip to CVS, or your driverless car automatically knowing to change lanes to avoid a pot hole.
Watch Sec. Foxx talk about America’s driverless future:
As Sec. of Transportation, Foxx led more than 55,000 employees and a budget of $70 billion. He was known for launching the “Smart City Challenge,” which made him the first DOT chief to embrace integrated technologies as a part of city planning. In his last months in office, he shifted his focus to drones and met with drone-focused start-ups across the country.
