NYT Tech Columnist on “Fake News”

by Maddie Donnelly
Social Media Speaker on Technology, Politics, News

The 2016 election saw technology and politics merge in new ways: a President who Tweets around the clock, protestors who organize digitally in real time, data-based models failing pollsters, and the emergence of the “fake news.” New York Times tech columnist Farhad Manjoo has a new talk on this phenomenon, looking at:

  • The transformation of media
  • How smart phones, social networks and a multiplicity of information sources are altering democratic norms
  • How professionals whose mission involves facts—pretty much everyone—can spot fakery, truthiness and efforts to distract from accurate information online

Farhad writes the “State of the Art” column for the Times (he replaced David Pogue). He covers tech-related topics including the emergence of new media, Silicon Valley and start-up culture, and the ways in which politics, society, and business are being shaped by innovation. He formerly wrote for The Wall Street Journal , Wired, and Slate.

If you’re looking for a new perspective on technology especially as it relates to modern life, I highly recommend Farhad. He’s insightful and energetic, and offers a unique perspective. For more information please fill out the form below.
