Steve Boyes, a 2013 National Geographic Emerging Explorer and a conservationist who has made it his life's mission to protect and conserve Africa's wilderness, is setting out on his most impressive journey yet: the Okavango Expedition. Represented by Leading Authorities, Steve gives audiences an eye-opening look at the world and shares insights on the power of exploration in all facets of life.

It is with his mission of conservation in mind that Boyes began his venture into the Okavango Delta in Botswana on Aug. 17, for an expedition that is expected to last until Sept. 3. But this is no ordinary expedition -- #okavango14 will mark the first-ever live-data trek across the delta. You will literally be able to track Steve's every move, all from the comfort of your computer.

For the first time ever a group of National Geographic explorers will be sharing their every move, their research, what they are seeing, what they are hearing, their very heartbeats, and their thoughts in real-time via satellite while exploring one of the world’s richest wilderness areas, Botswana’s Okavango Delta. This team of baYei River Bushmen, scientists, artists, writers, photographers, bloggers, naturalists and engineers will be taking the very pulse of Africa’s last remaining wetland wilderness. On Aug. 22, roughly halfway through the expedition, you can join Steve Boyes and his traveling party for a live Google+ Hangout (10 a.m. EDT). This unprecedented use of technology will allow Steve to share his experiences in the delta in real-time, meaning anyone and everyone around the world will be able to track progress, see photos of hippos, and, the ultimate goal of the mission, learn more about protecting ecological function in wilderness.

The two-and-a-half week journey follows the National Geographic film Okavango, and serves as preparation for a 2015 expedition in which Steve Boyes will lead a team on a two-month, 1,000-mile trek down the length of the Okavango River.

As a speaker, Steve Boyes -- a 2014 TED Fellow -- uses stunning high-quality images and stories to challenge audiences to view the world – and their impact on it – with a fresh perspective. In this National Geographic Live! presentation, Boyes talks about his trips to the Okavango and his hope to protect its wilderness:

After the expedition, Steve Boyes will be available to speak about the history-making journey, focusing on its adventure and environmental and social consciousness. Check his availability and rates here.
