Taking the Power Back
Former Fox News anchor and survivor of sexual harassment Gretchen Carlson has been sharing her story on radio, TV, and at events for months. This week, she released her book Be Fierce. The memoir details a 12-step process for women who find themselves in similar situations. In an interview yesterday, she described the thousands of messages she’s received from women with similar stories and pointed to the basic problem that allows harassment to proliferate – secrecy. “We work so hard to cover it up,” she says. But not anymore. If you are interested in learning more, order your copy of Be Fierce here.

No Place to Hide
“Although the likelihood of another 9/11 has diminished, it is far from zero,” wrote former Homeland Security Counterterrorism Advisor Lisa Monaco in her article on our country’s strategy for the war on terrorism. The key? Eliminate safe havens, both physical and virtual, where terrorist organizations can plan, organize, and hide. The CNN Senior National Security Analyst also discussed overcoming the barriers to success: unstable governments, budget cuts, and lack of diplomatic engagement.

Put Down the Phone
Are you ready to disconnect from your phone? It’s not what you think. UX designer Mona Patel tackles the question of what’s next in her recent Forbes article, pointing to advancements in cell phone and wearable technology. She posits that soon our hands will be free of our favorite device, but our tech will know more about us, learn about us as individuals, and provide even more efficiencies without having to provide interface inputs. Beam us up Scotty!
