Team Happy Hour, Anyone?
In the heat of the day-to-day grind, it’s easy to promote a “go-go-go” mentality. But with a new season upon us, take a minute to read this article featuring leadership advice from General Stanley McChrystal. McChrystal talks about the importance of trust within a team, and explains why you should get your team out of the office for team-building exercises that promote positive inter-personal relationships. The result? A more effective team. “When you approach a problem [with trust], you do it on a different level,” McChrystal says.

Change (Seems to Be) in the Air
Reid Wilson is the National Correspondent for The Hill and the author of a new article about the widening demographic gaps between our two political parties. It’s based on research from the Pew Research Center. A few highlights: Fifty-nine percent of millennial voters back Democrats. Fifty-six percent of women who are registered to vote say they are Democrats or lean toward the Democratic Party. And Republicans hold a 16-point edge — 54 percent to 38 percent — in rural America. We’ll be watching these gaps closely as Midterms approach.

Put Yourself First
Brit & Co recently interviewed several female business leaders for an article called “9 Ways Being Selfish at Work Will Help You Succeed.” They talked to Flywheel Sports CEO Sarah Robb O’Hagan, who (unsurprisingly) advised aspiring leaders to take care of their physical health. “I believe there is a correlation between physical strength and mental and emotional courage and resilience,” she said, adding that “a great day at work starts with the selfish act of a great workout to get your body, heart, and mind in the game.”

And … Is it Time for a Health Tune-Up?
Did you know that by 2030, there will be a 20.5% increase in stroke incidence in adults up from 2012? And that 80% of strokes are preventable? The trailer for the new LAI Video-produced documentary about stroke, “A Teachable Moment,” has officially dropped. We produced the film in partnership with the American Heart Association and will be debuting it at a premiere here in DC in May. Watch this preview and, if you’d like to join us at the premier, send me an email and I’ll secure tickets for you:
