AB-Stoddard-Midterms

What You Don’t Know Can’t Hurt You (??)
It’s always better to know what you don’t know—right? In a recent blog post for Leading Authorities, associate editor of RealClearPolitics A.B. Stoddard outlined 10 “known un-knowns” of the 2018 midterms. She discusses the 10 factors in play that will influence voters and determine the congressional make up headed into 2020. While there are a few unsurprising items on the list (think Mueller investigation and North Korea) she also describes the Obama Effect and the Trump Effect on either ends of the spectrum. And, she’s not ruling out any October surprises.

Who’s In Charge Around Here?
Is technology running your life? In a world where we interrupt our thought processes to send an email an average of 77 times a day, and allow our screen time to disturb our sleep rhythms, is there a solution that doesn’t leave us disconnected and left behind? Last week, Washington Post columnist and tech futurist Vivek Wadhwa released his new book, Your Happiness was Hacked: Why Tech is Winning the Battle to Control Your Brain and How to Fight Back. Wadhwa provides a guide to the tools we can use to regain control and what the next generation of technology will be incorporating to be more humane.
