Internships at LAI look like…  Creating Unique Client Experiences

You’ll be an integral part of team and will have opportunities to help create unique experiences for our clients, assist with talent needs and LAI events, and support video shoots and the creative process throughout the year. You will have the chance to contribute your own ideas and help shape the direction of our client relationships. Q: What are the eligibility requirements for an internship?

A: Interns must be currently enrolled in a collegiate program, available to work in person at our Washington, D.C. office, and vaccinated against COVID. Check out the specific internship descriptions to see other possible requirements.

Q: Are these opportunities open for student veterans?

A: Yes! Any student veterans are welcome to apply for LAI internships.

Q: When will internship opportunities become available?

A: We are looking for internships on a rolling basis year-round. Interns are welcome to work over the summer or during their normal fall or spring college semesters.

Q: Will I gain mentorship during my internship?

A: Each intern will report to their manager and mentor during the internship. They will also meet with senior leaders to aid in their professional development.

Q: What’s the biggest benefit of an LAI internship?

A: Growing your network! Our staff is well-connected and we host regular company-wide outings allowing interns to network with LAI employees across departments, and interns will also have opportunities to connect with LAI clients by attending external events.

Q: Will there be opportunities to network with other interns?

CONTENT MARKETING INTERN

Leading Authorities, Inc. is seeking a content marketing intern to support our marketing department. If you are interested in sharpening your content writing and production skills in a real-time, fast-paced environment where you’ll quickly learn a wide range of skills, as well as enhance your content marketing strategy and execution experience for web, social media, and print, then this may be the perfect opportunity for you. We are looking for candidates who have experience creating dynamic written content and can work during Eastern Standard Time hours (8:30am to 5:00pm). Marketing, Communications, and English majors encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work primarily with our Marketing Content Manager (and with the Web Marketing Manager, Manager of Data & Digital Marketing, and VP of Marketing on other assigned projects)
  • Write, edit, and proof content for marketing content for web, blogs, search engine optimization, social media, print, and events
  • Research the latest LAI exclusive speaker news and identify opportunities for leveraging on web, social media, and other marketing channels
  • Scan social media for opportunities to promote or engage LAI exclusive speakers
  • Review speaker recordings and suggest timestamps for video highlights and reels
  • Assist in the content/creative direction for marketing materials
  • Participate in marketing meetings and attend speaker visits
  • Additional responsibilities may include event support and data entry

If you are interested in sharpening your multimedia production skills in a real-time, fast-paced marketing environment where you’ll quickly learn a wide range of marketing skills, as well as enhance your design experience by creating energizing content for social media, emails, and web to add to your portfolio, then this may be the perfect opportunity for you! We are looking for candidates who share a passion for visual storytelling, content planning, and learning. Must be able to work during Eastern Standard Time hours (8:30am to 5:00pm).   • Work primarily with our Web Marketing Manager (and with the Manager of Data & Digital Marketing, Marketing Content Manager, Director of Marketing Operations, Director of Meetings & Events and VP of Marketing on other assigned projects)
  • Assist with website upkeep, database entry, and maintenance process of client information
  • Implement SEO and content updates to our websites and marketing materials
  • Provide general administrative support as needed for the entire marketing department

ACCOUNTING INTERN

Leading Authorities, Inc. is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Accounting Intern to join our staff. In this role, you will gain experience and learn essential industry skills by assisting our team with accounts payable and receivable, and other projects for clients. You will help ensure our records are accurate and timely. The Accounting Intern will perform administrative duties, such as data entry and electronic filing, among other duties. This role is open to students currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, although we may consider recent graduates.

Accounting Intern Duties and Responsibilities

  • Help prepare invoices and expense reports
  • Verify vendor documents for accuracy
  • Assist with payment documentation
  • Electronically file accounting documents
  • Provide administrative support as needed

Accounting Intern Requirements and Qualifications

  • Active enrollment in a relevant post-secondary program in relevant major i.e. Accounting or Finance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft NetSuite highly encouraged
  • Interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication
  • The ability to be discreet when handling sensitive financial information
  • A willingness to learn

EVENT COORDINATOR INTERNSHIP

Leading Authorities, the nation’s top speaker’s bureau is looking for an intern to assist our event coordinator team to expertly coordinate logistics. You will assist with booking travel, coordinating, and attending conference calls and creating detailed accurate itineraries for talent and clients.

Required skills, experience, and education

  • Active enrollment in a post-secondary education program in communication, marketing, events, hospitality, or related discipline.
  • SUPERB organizational and teamwork skills

LAI Live Events Internship

Reports to: Senior Vice President, LAI Live

Department: LAI LIVE

Summary:

This DC-based, in-office position offers the right candidate a unique opportunity to learn the ins and outs of live event production including production management, program development, producing, set design, audio visual components, client interfacing skills, entertainment rider management, and more. The internship will include client interaction and on-site event experience. 

Job Duties Could Include:

  • Work closely with Producers and Creative Director on assigned projects
  • Assist with production schedules, equipment spreadsheets, asset collection and other pre-production logistics
  • Assist with creative development for general session programming ideas, awards ceremonies and interactive attendee experiences
  • Contribute to creative output of set design, graphic design, lighting design
  • Provide general support as needed
  • Provide production assistant, stage manager, or breakout support on-site

Knowledge of / or experience with the following a plus:

  • Stage management, graphic design, event production, production management, event management
  • Microsoft Office, PowerPoint and / or Apple Keynote
  • Adobe PhotoShop, AfterEffects, Google Sketch, or other design program

LAI LIVE Graphic Design Internship

Reports to: Creative Director, LAI Live

Department: LAI LIVE

Summary:

This position offers the right candidate a unique opportunity to learn the ins and outs of live event production in the context of a graphic design role. The candidate will have a chance to grow additional skills in event & logo design, show graphics, proposal design, event marketing, scenic animation and event content development.  This office and on-site setting also provides opportunities to grow professional and client interfacing skills, solution finding skills, plus building your professional portfolio.  The ideal candidate will be available 3-4 days a week.

Job Duties Could Include:

  • Work closely with Art Director and Technical Producers on assigned projects
  • Assist with creative development for general session programming ideas, awards ceremonies and interactive attendee experiences
  • Creation of style boards for event branding
  • Creating and building visual show content decks
  • Assist with design and messaging for LAI Live proposals
  • Live event graphics operations
  • Provide general support as needed

Knowledge of / experience with the following a plus:

  • Working knowledge of Adobe CC design basics (Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign)
  • Working knowledge of Adobe CC animation workflows a plus (AfterEffects, Premiere)
  • Apple Keynote
  • Microsoft Office

Qualifications:

Video Production Assistant Internship

We are looking for a competent Production Assistant who will contribute to a positive attitude and energy of our team and work hard in order to manage and improve our behind-the-scenes procedures.

LAI Video is an Emmy®-award winning video agency that’s known for its feel-good campaigns, docu-style series, and quirky animation. Regularly working with associations, non-profits, and big corporate clients (including Amazon, Nestlé, No Kid Hungry, DC Public Schools, and the Department of State), we pitch and produce powerful content that prompts action and changes minds.

Production Assistant duties and responsibilities

  • Prepare all the supplies and equipment needed for the set
  • Manage the equipment as needed
  • Assist other crew members with their duties
  • Prepare all the paperwork such as scripts for the set
  • Make sure all the members have their necessary tools
  • Assist actors with their needs
  • Perform safety checks for people and equipment on the set
  • Deliver messages among team members
