A three-time Emmy Award winner, Gumbel hosted The NFL Today on CBS and The NFL on NBC. He also became the first African-American announcer to call play-by-play of a major sports championship in the U.S. when he announced Super Bowl XXXV in 2001.

Boomer Esiason, who quarterbacked the Cincinnati Bengals, New York Jets and the Arizona Cardinals during a 14-year NFL career, joined CBS Sports in February 2002 as a studio analyst for the CBS Television Network's NFL pre-game show The NFL Today.
