Topics & Types

Adnan is a truly cosmopolitan personality. After spending the first two years of his life in the foothills of the Himalayas in Pakistan, he moved with his family to Manila, the capital of the Philippines. He has also lived in Italy, France, the USA, Chile and now lives with his wife and two young children family in Hertfordshire, while commuting to London to read the news for BBC World News and the BBC News Channel.

Well Traveled and Experienced. Adnan's travels have given him a unique perspective of life abroad and an acute cultural sensitivity. His is the sort of international outlook on business and human interaction that can only be reached by personally living and experiencing daily life in a foreign environment. Being able to speak Spanish, French, Italian and Urdu has given him the chance to interact directly with people he may not otherwise have had the chance to meet and speak to about their experiences. During his travels, work and research projects undertaken abroad he has met and/or worked with an extremely broad range of people, including Presidents, government Ministers, Directors and Managers of international organisations, University Professors, farm workers, seasonal temporary workers and professional political researchers.

All of this experience means Adnan has an extremely broad international understanding, of what it means to do business abroad, of how to connect with people who come from different backgrounds, to make them comfortable and be able to relate to them in a way they understand and appreciate. These are all qualities he has brought to his time at the BBC, where he has worked as an award winning radio producer, and for the past fourteen years as a TV presenter for the BBC News Channel and BBC World News.

From 1995 to 2000, Adnan worked for BBC Radio Sport, winning a Sony Gold Award as the producer of Five Live's "Papertalk", first in its category for UK Radio's "Best Magazine Programme," first in the UK's Best Magazine Programme category. For both Radio and TV, for whom he was the main anchor for BBC World News, he reported and presented programmes from a variety of international sporting events, including football and cricket World Cups and the Olympic Games in Beijing and London.
