Politicking in Print. During his award-winning career in journalism, Birnbaum worked for the premier news outlets in the United States. Birnbaum was a columnist for The Washington Post and The Washington Times. Prior to that, he spent seven years as Fortune magazine’s senior writer and as the chief of its Washington, DC, bureau.
