Baylor's Kim Mulkey: Coaching Generations of Women & Serving As A Role Model
KCEN Channel 6 in Central Texas produced a powerful series on "Leading Ladies" to highlight a few strong women in the local community who are leading the way in their respective fields.
When you think about strong female leaders in Texas who are breaking down barriers and making a real impact in their fields as well as their communities, the most familiar face is three-time National Champion head coach from Baylor University, Kim Mulkey.
Kim Mulkey has coached a generation of women as the Baylor University Lady Bears head coach for the last 18 seasons, while serving as a strong female role model for not only female athletes but for all women. Kim has always been a high-achieving athlete—college hoops, world records, and even an Olympic Gold Medal are all part of her impressive sports resume, but she is far too busy leading Baylor's Lady Bears to another national title to stop and reflect on all of the accomplishments from her days on the court.
Her coaching talents come from more than a remarkable sports background, but also stem from the strong, tight-knit, and loyal culture that she cultivates and the unconventional way that she nurtures and loves every single player on her team—treating them the same way she treats her own children. Because at the end of the day, what drives Kim can't be measured in wins and loses.
In this short video clip, Kim talks family, basketball, teamwork, and what it takes to be a winner. After you watch this video above, visit Coach Kim Mulkey's speaker profile to learn more about her legendary basketball career and speaking topics and see if she would be a good fit to speak at one of your upcoming events.
