Former Chief of Security at Facebook, Former Chief Information Security Officer at Yahoo, & Professor at Stanford 

During his time at Facebook, Alex Stamos led the company’s investigation into manipulation of the 2016 US Presidential election and helped pioneer several successful protections against these new classes of abuse. The New York Times said through that work he became known for his role as a “strong advocate inside [Facebook] for investigating and disclosing Russian activity on Facebook.”

He currently leads the just-announced Internet Observatory at Stanford, which is dedicated to arming organizations with the means to fight back against the spread of disinformation, cyber security breaches, and propaganda online—using cutting-edge analytics and machine learning. Stamos talks about his time at Facebook and lessons learned.
