Jon grew up among Royal Marines. His father served for 25 years and Jon began Royal Marine Young Officer Training in 2002, at age 19, having initially been rejected as a commissioned Officer two years earlier. He trained at the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines, one of the finest leadership training establishments in the world. After graduating, Jon completed several tours as a Troop Commander and Company Second-in-Command before specializing as a Mountain Leader, the toughest course the British Military has to offer.<\/p>\n
While on patrol in Afghanistan with his Troop in June 2010, he stepped on a Pressure Plate Improvised Explosive Device and lost both of his legs and his right arm. Following this life changing event, Jon refused to give up. His road to recovery has seen him take on incredible challenges, proving that a strong will and sharp mind can overcome almost anything. Following an 18-month rehabilitation, Jon and his wife made the decision to buy a plot of land and build a cutting-edge accessible forever home in Devon. <\/p>\n
Jon is also a World Champion Para-Athlete and has taken up Marathon and Ocean Racing, showing an instant aptitude for competition and winning European and world titles and setting lofty goals for the Paralympics. Using the skills he has learned, he has developed a Leadership Consultancy, specializing in Leadership and Resilience.
