Mr. Natarajan’s extensive career includes his tenure as the Deputy Director for the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), where he expertly oversaw programmatic and business operations for a federal agency comprising over 3,400 employees and a $3 billion budget. While at CISA, he spearheaded the agency’s growth and modernization, expanding its workforce by more than 1,200 employees and its budget by $1 billion in less than four years. His influential presence and contributions to key domestic and international policy forums have played a pivotal role in shaping U.S. defensive cybersecurity and critical infrastructure resilience policies and programs. Known for his expertise in fostering public-private partnerships, Mr. Natarajan excels at uniting organizations to collaboratively address some of the most complex and pressing challenges in national and cybersecurity.
Before his globally impactful role at CISA, Natarajan excelled as an executive with leading consulting firms, offering subject matter expertise in cybersecurity, homeland and national security, critical infrastructure protection, environmental emergency management, continuity of operations, and health security.
Mr. Natarajan’s federal career includes positions such as Deputy Assistant Administrator at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Director of Critical Infrastructure Policy at the White House/National Security Council, and Director at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, overseeing various healthcare and public health programs.
Prior to federal service, Mr. Natarajan built a strong foundation in state and local government as well as the private sector, including serving as a hospital administrator in New York. His career was further defined by his early service as a first responder, including as a flight paramedic and as a Commander of a federal medical response team, where he gained significant experience in deploying to both natural and man-made disasters, as well as large-scale events across the nation.
Natarajan holds an undergraduate degree from the State University of New York and a graduate degree from the United States Naval Postgraduate School.
