DIRECTOR, MEETINGS & EVENTS

Leading Authorities, Inc. is a top speakers bureau, video agency, and event production company. Headquartered in the heart of Washington, DC, we service the nation’s leading trade and professional associations, major corporations, colleges/universities, and more.

Our marketing team is growing and we’re seeking an experienced meeting planner to lead our client business development strategy with the management of hosted and sponsored events that generate leads for our sales team. This position will also support marketing strategic priorities and create new sponsorable opportunities.

You’ll thrive in this role if you are:

  • Creative and enjoy the process of conceptualizing and executing client experiences.
  • Resourceful and proactive, with great project management skills.
  • Cool under pressure and able to problem solve.
  • Interested in strategically developing events that generate sponsorship dollars and sales leads.
  • Good with event planning details, scheduling, and logistics.
  • Familiar with budgeting, event promotion, and managing reporting metrics.
  • Able to manage client and vendor relationships and event speaker logistics.
  • A good writer and communicator.
  • A team player.

This position reports to the VP of Marketing, and you’ll be responsible for leading corporate company and event partnerships and developing lead acquisition events for our sales team with clients from Fortune 1000 companies and top associations. You will develop materials, engage in activities that support our talent, and contribute to efforts that generate client leads and help the company grow.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience in event planning, logistics, management, or other related fields.
  • Experience promoting and/or marketing events.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and strong leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in website CMS platforms and database systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Should be aware of and interested in event industry trends.
  • Metrics-driven decision-making and solution execution.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop strong relationships.
  • Good work ethic and curiosity to learn.
  • Photoshop proficiency preferred but not required.

TALENT ACQUISITION SPECIALIST

Leading Authorities, the nation’s top speaker’s bureau, video communications firm, and live event production house is looking for a Director of Talent Acquisition to lead our hiring efforts and contribute to the overall growth of Leading Authorities.

As the lead on our hiring efforts, the corporate recruiter will be responsible for:

  • Working closely with managers across various departments to define recruitment needs and create a plan for the hiring process 
  • Work with our C-Suite to create and execute a corporate recruiting strategy that ensures that we attract, hire, and retain top employees
  • Creating and publishing job announcements 
  • Sourcing candidates from job boards, resume databases, professional networks, and through referrals 
  • Working with hiring managers to create assessment tools and tests to screen candidates 
  • Screening candidates and selecting qualified and interested candidates to move forward to the interview phase with department managers
  • Investigating referrals, references, and social media sources to formulate well-rounded view of applicants
  • Collecting and analyzing data to maintain current understanding of fair and competitive market salaries, candidate availability, and demand for candidates

Qualifications:

EVENT COORDINATOR

Leading Authorities, the nation’s top speaker’s bureau is looking for an Event Coordinator to create a positive customer experience by liaising with clients and talent to expertly coordinate logistics. Logistics responsibilities include contract review, talent management and support, booking travel, coordinating, and attending conference calls and creating detailed accurate itineraries for talent and clients.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND EDUCATION:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in communications, marketing, events, hospitality, or related discipline
  • At least 2 years professional work experience in an office environment,
  • The ability to work under tight deadlines and under pressure
  • SUPERB organizational and teamwork skills
  • A strong sense of responsibility
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills including Word and Excel (experience with CRM is preferred)
  • Experience working with events, event management or travel
  • Fast problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to change
  • The ability and willingness to be on-call during nights and weekends for travel related emergencies
  • Additionally, in our line of work, it is very important that candidates be extremely detail oriented as well as discrete and professional.

SALES COORDINATOR

Leading Authorities, Inc., is one of the top lecture agencies in the nation, representing hundreds of exclusive speakers and working with thousands of clients to broker talent both nationally and internationally.

If you are curious, extremely detail-oriented, organized, have a marketing and/or sales mindset, and enjoy meeting fascinating people from all walks of life, this is a great way to gain experience and build skills in both marketing and sales for an industry-leading events agency.

In this role, you will support our sales staff by conducting research into new talent and clients, entering new contacts and opportunities into the database, working on contracts, and helping our team with other tasks as assigned. You will also assist our marketing team with digital marketing, database management, and event support.

This is an entry level, Speaker Agent support position that is a steppingstone to a position in sales, marketing, or events.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • General knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word and Excel most importantly)
  • Extremely detail oriented and organized
