Finding the Right Speaker

When clients begin planning their events, a Leading Authorities program consultant works with them to design the best program by learning about their organizations and understanding the business behind their meeting. Because our program consultants are well versed in the hot issues of the day, they can provide tailored research for each client and make recommendations that stay in line with the budget, theme, and location. These professionals are dedicated to packaging the perfect blend of speakers, entertainment, and production to create a winning event. As the liaison between the talent and the client, Leading Authorities’ event coordinators make sure that every booking runs like clockwork. This detail-oriented team handles all of our speakers’ logistics and provides a range of services from developing itineraries and scheduling conference calls to managing book purchases and arranging meet-and-greets. By guaranteeing convenient access to your event coordinator at all times, Leading Authorities ensures a smooth and hassle-free event. Leading Authorities will issue you a contract setting the name of the speaker, the event location, the date of the presentation, audio visual requirements, and other important information. The contract requires a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the speaking fee within 14 days of booking your speaker. The balance is due 14 days prior to the event date.

Booking a Speaker

Many speakers allow video taping of their speech at no additional charge. Some do not wish to be taped or will charge an extra fee. It is important to make your requests known in advance, before the contract is signed, to ensure that any special requirements are agreed to in advance and made part of the contract.

Each speaker is different, but most are happy to sign books or other memorabilia at your event. Some, however, have contractual restrictions. If a signing is important to you, let our team know as early as possible—ideally before the contract is finalized—so we can confirm the speaker’s availability and include any requirements in the agreement. 

If a signing is approved and added to the contract, we can also coordinate the logistics, including bookplates. There’s no additional charge for this service. 

Yes! Many of the speakers we represent are bestselling authors, and books make fantastic event takeaways that reinforce your message long after the program ends. In most cases, we can secure books at a substantial discount and ship them directly to your meeting or event site. We can also coordinate author book signings or provide signed bookplates at no extra charge.

Logged in Client Experience

Create a logged-in account to easily access and manage all of your speaker research and event materials in one place. When you’re signed in, you can save speakers by name or search criteria, build curated lists, and share them with colleagues. You’ll also be able to message your LAI account manager directly and, once speakers are booked, access key resources and materials for your event.

To create a saved search or curated speaker list, you’ll first need to create a free account on our website. Once you’re logged in, you can save speakers by clicking the heart icon directly from the search results or by selecting “Add to My List” on a speaker’s profile page. You can view these speaker list at any time on your account dashboard under “My Lists.”

Yes, you can easily share saved speaker lists with colleagues from your account dashboard. Simply click the “My Lists” tab, select the list you’d like to share, and choose “Share This List.” We’ll send the email on your behalf.

There are two ways to create a saved search. First, go to the Find a Speaker page and select the criteria you’d like to use. Once your filters are set, click “Save Search” located directly beneath the filter options.

Second, you can build and access your saved searches anytime from your account dashboard. Go to the tab “Saved Searches.”

Marketing materials vary by speaker, but may include headshots, moderator Q&A questions, introduction videos, promotional clips, press coverage, and other resources to help you promote the speaker to your attendees. We work to keep materials up to date, but if you’re looking for something specific, don’t hesitate to reach out to your LAI team.

Once you’ve booked a speaker you can look for marketing materials in your account dashboard under “Marketing Toolkit.”
