He is also the author of numerous New York Times bestselling books about forgotten trials in history.
Dan has created and sold numerous media businesses including Law&Crime in a nine-figure deal. He is also the founder of prominent media and politics site, Mediaite, and of the largest multi-platform spirits media company, The Daily Pour. He founded Ev&Em Vineyards on the North Fork of Long Island and has been the owner of two high-profile restaurants in New York. His latest restaurant project, Danny’s, has become one of the toughest reservations in New York following rave reviews.
Dan started his career as a reporter for Court TV where he first became well known for his coverage of the OJ Simpson case. He went on to cover most of the highest profile trials of the past few decades. After leaving Court TV, Dan became the Chief Legal Correspondent for NBC. He went on to host MSNBC’s “The Abrams Report” and the acclaimed “Verdict with Dan Abrams.” From 2006 through the end of 2007, Dan served as MSNBC’s General Manager, presiding over a period of unprecedented growth, with ratings and profits each increasing well over 50% during his tenure. During that time, Dan was also a member of the NBC Universal President’s Council.
In 2011, Dan left NBC to become Chief Legal Analyst at ABC where he also served as co-anchor of ABC’s “Nightline.” From 2016 to 2020, Dan hosted the top-rated cable series, “Live PD” on A&E Network.
He was the host of Dan Abrams Live on NewsNation from 2021 to 2025. On December 19, 2024, he announced that he would end his show in February 2025 but remain at the network. He told viewers, “It is impossible to keep devoting the time needed for this show while also running and growing my other businesses.”
Dan has published several books. Man Down: Proof Beyond A Reasonable Doubt That Women Are Better Cops, Drivers, Gamblers, Spies, World Leaders, Beer Tasters, Hedge Fund Managers, and Just About Everything Else, was a Washington Post bestseller. Lincoln’s Last Trial: The Murder Case That Propelled Him to The Presidency, published in 2018, and Theodore Roosevelt for the Defense: The Courtroom Battle to Save His Legacy, published in 2019, were both New York Times bestsellers. His fourth book, John Adams Under Fire: The Founding Father’s Fight for Justice in the Boston Massacre Murder Trial was an instant New York Time bestseller after release in March 2020 on the 250th anniversary of the Boston Massacre.
Dan’s most recent books are Kennedy’s Avenger: Assassination, Conspiracy, and the Forgotten Trial of Jack Ruby and Alabama v. King: Martin Luther King Jr. and the Criminal Trial That Launched the Civil Rights Movement.
