Renowned wildlife cinematographer and new BAFTA member Sophie Darlington, part of the BAFTA-winning camera team on The Hunt whose other credits include Planet Earth II and Dynasties, and BAFTA-nominated screenwriter Hossein Amini discuss how their particular disciplines contribute to storytelling, and the value of mentoring emerging talent.
Since 1991, Sophie has worked as a filmmaker and cinematographer specialising in natural history in some of the remotest locations throughout the world. From 78º North to 78º South with a lot of Africa in between. Her impressive list of credits includes the upcoming BBC series ‘The Mating Game’, as well as many other Attenborough narrated series such as ‘A Perfect Planet’, ‘Seven Worlds’, ‘Dynasties, Lion’ and the EMMY award winning ‘Our Planet’ for Netflix. Sophie is currently working on, among other things, a new series for National Geographic, ‘Queens’, the first primetime landmark natural history series to put female leadership in the spotlight.
