Ben Feller is a speaker and moderator who has covered two U.S. presidents and now counsels some of the world’s leading companies, making him a distinctive choice for any event. Honored as a “master of deadline reporting” during his distinguished White House reporting career, Feller is a strategic adviser whose appeal on stage is rooted in the expertise he brings to his work: an ability to engage any audience with stories, humor, and loads of actionable advice.
Feller’s style is informed by an award-winning journalism career, one in which he drew details out of presidents and thousands of other people around the world. He served as the Chief White House Correspondent for The Associated Press, the largest news organization in the world. For more than six years, Feller covered Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush, traveling aboard Air Force One and often driving the national debate with the questions he asked.
An event organizer who booked Feller said: “We always come away feeling energized, informed and entertained by a conversation he leads. And that is on top of my appreciation of his work on the toughest beat in journalism. Put simply, he's an extraordinary talent.” Said another: “He kept our audience riveted. His resume speaks for itself, but he was more than that to us. He was a true partner.”
Feller’s work has shaped the mindset and the narratives of companies, universities, foundations, and industries. He is a partner at maslansky + partners, the communications firm that created Language Strategy – the discipline of finding exactly the right language to ensure audiences will listen, care, and act. He brings a dual perspective of business and journalism, having challenged presidents and thrived in the most demanding media environment in America.
Feller is also the author of the children’s book “Big Problems, Little Problems,” a tale of conquering frustration no matter what the problem. It is built on Feller’s love of parenting, his career in problem-solving, and his pride in watching his son Sam grow. In the book, a dad teaches his son to solve the daily challenges of life – and, in turn, learns the surprising ways in which a child can remind a grown-up what's important, too. Reviewers said: “This book should be in every home with little ones,” and “I could not have found a more relatable book if I tried.”
Feller’s career began in 1993 as a reporter for the Centre Daily Times in State College, Pa. He also wrote for the News & Record in Greensboro, NC. and The Tampa Tribune in Tampa, Fla. Feller served as the National Education Writer for The Associated Press before moving onto the White House beat.
During his time covering national politics, Feller won the Gerald R. Ford Prize for being a “master of deadline reporting and an astute analyst of the meaning of President Obama’s initiatives.” The same year, he won The Merriman Smith Award for reporting on soldiers returning from war in caskets, with coverage “whose style had echoes of Edward R. Murrow in its taut, gripping writing.”
Feller then pivoted to business and joined Mercury, a global strategy firm, before joining maslansky + partners in 2022. A native of State College, Pa., Feller graduated with distinction from Penn State in 1992. He lives in New York City.
