Jim Gray is a Hall of Fame,12-time Emmy Award winning broadcaster.

Gray is the author of the national bestseller, Talking to GOATs. Throughout his career, Gray has earned numerous awards and honors. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame with the Class of 2018. Gray was honored by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame with the Class of 2020.  Jim is also a member of the California Sports Hall of Fame (Class of 2019) and was inducted into The Colorado Hall of Excellence (2004), honoring those who have uniquely achieved or made special contributions to the States history.

Gray has won 12 national Emmy Awards for journalism and reporting, and was named Sportscaster of the Year in 1998, and 1999 as “Sports Reporter of the Year” by his member peers of the American Sportscasters Association.  In 1997, Jim won the prestigious “Broadcast of the Year Award” presented by the National Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association for his interview with Mike Tyson following “Tyson vs. Holyfield II.”

Twelve times, Gray has been named Sports Reporter of the Year by the USA Today, and that same publication named him the country’s best sports reporter of the past quarter century in 2005. Also that year, Jim was awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and the Los Angeles City Council. Gray is one of a very few sportscasters who has been honored with this prestigious award.

Gray started in television as a sports intern and a video tape editor in 1977. Moving on-camera he has been a network television and national cable sportscaster since 1983.  He is currently with Fox, Showtime, and Westwood One Radio, and has worked with CBS Sports, NBC Sports, ABC Sports, and ESPN.

His career highlights include coverage of 9 Olympic Games, 40 NFL Super Bowls, 9 MLB World Series, 22 NBA Finals, 25 NCAA Final Fours, 25 Masters Golf Tournaments, and more than 800 World Championship Boxing matches. Gray has also broadcast on numerous occasions NFL AFC and NFC Championship Games, MLB American and National League Championship Series Games, the Ryder Cup, the Presidents Cup, NBA and MLB All-Star Games. He has reported on literally thousands of games and events in his career, resulting in tens of thousands of interviews on radio and television, as well as hosting a number of high-profile prime time specials. Among the highlights are having interviewed the last 10 United States Presidents, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush (41), Clinton, G.W. Bush, Obama, Trump, and Biden. In addition, Jim has questioned South African President Nelson Mandela, Soviet President Gorbachev, the first man to walk on the moon, Neil Armstrong, and the last man on the moon, Gene Cernan, as well as many other world leaders, celebrities, and sports stars.

Since 2001, Gray has been the host of NFL Monday Night Football on the national radio broadcast for Westwood One on the pregame and halftime, as well as for the Super Bowl broadcast each of those seasons, with his on-air partners Tom Brady and Larry Fitzgerald.

Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, Gray graduated from the University of Colorado in 1981 earning a Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Journalism.

Throughout his adult life, Jim has been involved in numerous charities around the country devoting his time and energy to many philanthropic endeavors. Jim and his wife Frann established the Jerry and Lorna Gray Scholarship Fund at the University of Colorado which grants scholarships at the University’s School of Journalism to top students from Denver Public Schools, as well as to students who are the first in their family to attend a college or university.
