Before his appointment to Trade Representative, he worked in the White House as Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor for International Economic Affairs. In addition, he played a senior management role at Citigroup, on emerging markets strategy, as CEO of its international insurance business, COO of alternative investments and head of its infrastructure investment fund.
