“There are political junkies, and then there’s Charlie Cook – the man who knows more about everything political than anyone else.” The Washingtonian

Charlie Cook is the Editor and Publisher of The Cook Political Report, and a political analyst for the National Journal Group.

In 1984, Charlie founded the independent, non-partisan Cook Political Report. Now, with a staff of six, it is a publication that The New York Times once said was “a newsletter that both parties regard as authoritative” while CBS  News’ Bob Schieffer called it “the bible of the political community.”

Al Hunt in The Wall Street Journal has referred to Cook as “the Picasso of election analysis.” In 2019, Cook was named co-author of the 2020 Edition of the Almanac of American Politics adding to his omniscient powers.

The late David Broder of The Washington Post, long considered ‘the Dean’ of the Washington press corps, once wrote that Charlie Cook is “perhaps the best non-partisan tracker of Congressional races.”

Charlie has appeared frequently on ABC World News Tonight, CBS Evening News, NBC Nightly News, and ABC’s This Week. Since the 1990s he has appeared over a dozen times on NBC’s Meet the Press. Over the years Charlie has served as an Election Night analyst for CBS, CNN, and NBC and, since 1996, on NBC News Election Night Decision Desk in New York.

In 2010, Charlie was the co-recipient of the American Political Science Association’s prestigious Carey McWilliams Award to honor “a major journalistic contribution to our understanding of politics.” In 2013, Charlie served as a Resident Fellow at the Institute of Politics at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.

Charlie Cook and Stu Rothenberg Event Recap

Charlie & Stu Post 2016 Election Analysis

Charlie and Stu on 2016 Presidential Race

The Current Political & Legislative Environment. For more than two decades, Charlie Cook has been a trusted and accurate voice on all things political. Once deemed “the Picasso of election analysis” by The Wall Street Journal, his expertise and encyclopedic knowledge of American politics has been featured on myriad news outlets. Using poll numbers, economic indicators, and historical data, Cook discusses today’s political and legislative environments in a balanced, non-partisan way.

Election Forecasting. Widely regarded as one of the nation’s keenest observers of US elections and political trends, Charlie Cook shares his encyclopedic knowledge of American politics, memorable stories, quick wit, and meaningful insights to provide the sharpest political handicapping in the country. His presentation is a “lay of the land” for upcoming elections, including what the key dynamics are driving are and affecting the Democratic and Republican parties. He focuses on the implications of states’ electoral leanings, what it all means during Presidential contests, what will likely happen in the House and Senate moving forward, and what the results mean for the two parties (and the American people). It’s what audiences need to know to determine the outcome of the next election.

Ideal Political Pairing. Charlie Cook also engages in exciting point-counter-points with some of our other featured speakers. Among them, Stu Rothenberg provides a shrewd commentary on current political trends and hot-button issues, as he puts his own insight to work predicting the policy directions of the presidency. Book Cook to get a perceptive look at what lies ahead in politics; book him with Rothenberg to get two points of view on what policy decisions are forthcoming and what lies ahead for America. It’s a pairing up of two of the most respected and experienced political analysts in the business, not from the left or the right or from the Republican or Democratic perspectives, but right down the middle.
