Darren McBurnett’s New Book Offers Unique Look At Navy SEAL Training
Former SEAL platoon leader, accomplished keynote speaker, world-renowned photographer, and now, author, Darren McBurnett’s personal experiences and feats have taught him what separates the good from the truly exceptional.
His recently-published book, Uncommon Grit, constitutes a photographic journey through Navy SEAL BUD/S first phase training. Striking, beautiful, and haunting, Uncommon Grit takes a unique look at the toughest training in the military—and the world—from the vantage point of someone who lived through it. McBurnett includes vivid descriptions of both the physical and mental evolutions that occur as a result of the immensely challenging training process. His compelling insight, partnered with his sharp sense of humor allow the reader to laugh, cringe, gasp, and even envision themselves going through such an extraordinary experience.
Already a renowned speaker and photographer, McBurnett’s new status as author is just another notch under his belt. He has given keynotes to numerous big-name groups and companies, including CDW, Budweiser, Rite-Aid, Walk-Ons, Hilton Hotels, and Fidelity Investments, to name a few. His photography portfolio also features an impressive list of names, as he’s done work for NIKE, National Geographic, Fox and Friends, Rolling Stone, CBS SEAL Team, and the movie “Act of Valor.”
His photography has appeared on everything from album covers to billboards to the walls of Fortune 500 companies, and hangs in the homes of Charlie Sheen, Kid Rock, Jim McMahon, John Rich, Brent Burns, Roger Clemens, and John Daley. A photograph he took of a bald eagle is also displayed in the White House.
